Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan began his two-day visit to Andhra Pradesh with a spiritual offering at the iconic Kanaka Durga Temple on Indrakeeladri hill. Accompanied by his wife, he was accorded a traditional welcome with Vedic chants and Poorna Kumbham by the temple priests. State Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy, Temple Trust Board Chairman Radhakrishna, and senior officials received the Vice President and made special arrangements for the darshan and puja.

After offering prayers, Radhakrishnan told the media that he prayed for the prosperity of the people of Andhra Pradesh. “I sought Goddess Kanaka Durga’s blessings for the state’s progress in all fields and for the well-being of its people. Visiting the temple has given me immense happiness,” he said. He praised Vijayawada as one of India’s fastest-developing cities, citing rapid progress in education, healthcare, and industry, and expressed confidence that it would soon earn international recognition.

Later in the evening, the Vice President attended the Vijayawada Utsav-2025 at Punnami Ghat, where he delivered a culturally resonant address. Beginning his speech in Telugu, he lauded the richness of the language, calling it “unique for its depth in literature and music.” He described Vijayawada as the “hottest city with the coolest people,” drawing cheers from the gathering.

The Vice President’s visit prompted tight security measures, with temple authorities temporarily suspending VIP darshan between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to ensure smooth arrangements. At Gannavaram airport, he was accorded a ceremonial reception by Governor Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, ministers, MPs, and senior officials, before proceeding to Vijayawada by road.
