The historic Bathukamma Kunta at Amberpet has been fully restored and is ready to welcome devotees and visitors from September 26, 2025. The Telangana government, through HYDRAA, undertook the restoration, which included cleaning, beautification, and improved amenities to enhance the lake’s cultural and religious significance during the Bathukamma festival.
Authorities assured that arrangements have been made for a safe and festive atmosphere, especially for women participating in the floral celebrations. Local communities are preparing with enthusiasm, and the restored Bathukamma Kunta is expected to attract large gatherings this year.
The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) started work last November and to everyone’s surprise, workers struck water just after digging four feet. Cut to July 7, 2025 the kunta is full with water. Just a few months ago, it was full of shrubs and garbage. HYDRAA’s cleared encroachments, undertook desilting, and restoring the lake’s natural ecosystem.
