Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka stated that the state government has introduced the Indiramma housing scheme to ensure that homeless poor people in need can have a dignified place to live.

"It is also encouraging that programmes are being implemented to provide house sites to the poor who do not even own land to build a house," he said.

Speaking at the public meeting in  Ramagundam on Sunday,  the Deputy Chief Minister said that during the ten years of BRS rule, the needs of the poor were not addressed at all and the BRS leaders ruled with a feudal mindset, harassing and oppressing the people.

"The people brought the Congress party to power, which gave Telangana, to ensure freedom, social equality, opportunities, resources, jobs, and self-respect for the Telangana society that fought for statehood.

During the padayatra, I noted down the needs of this region, and after the formation of the people’s government, we are systematically fulfilling each of those needs," Bhatti Vikramarka said.

To ensure that homeless poor people live with dignity, the people’s government has taken up the construction of 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses across the state. The government has launched a programme to provide Indiramma houses worth ₹22,500 crore, ensuring not less than 3,500 houses in each Assembly constituency, he said.

Bhatti Vikramarka further stated that earlier,  the poor people were given coarse rice through ration shops. What we promised during the padayatra—providing fine rice to the poor—has been implemented immediately after forming the people’s government. Telangana is the only state and the only government distributing fine rice simultaneously to 96 lakh families, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the finance department is paying the electricity bills every month to the power department on behalf of the poor for 200-unit free power scheme and it is paying electricity bills for 29 lakh agricultural pump sets across the state.

He stated that Singareni Collieries is a jewel in the crown of Telangana and it employs over 42,000 regular workers and around 40,000 outsourcing employees.

"Protecting this institution is the responsibility of all of us. Singareni has unmatched expertise in mining compared to any other institution in the country. In the future, Singareni should also move into rare earth minerals mining, which will make it globally significant and generate more employment opportunities," Bhatti Vikramarka said.

"To ensure that families of Singareni employees do not suffer in case of accidents, the state government has already announced Rs 1 crore accident insurance. This insurance coverage has been extended to employees and workers in all power sector institutions as well," he added.
