Greening and Beautification Corporation Chairperson M. Sugunamma said on Monday that efforts would be made to increase greenery in the state with the participation of the people. The swearing-in ceremony of the new directors of Andhra Pradesh Greening and Beautification Corporation was held at Murali Fortune Hotel in Vijayawada on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Sugunamma said that there is a need to increase greenery in the state to correct the untimely changes in the climate. She said that both the Swachhandhra Corporation and the Greening and Beautification Corporation will work to promote greenery in the state as “twins”.
She also mentioned that green cover should be increased in the state with the participation of all the people so that the extraordinary changes in the climate can be prevented. Sugunamma said also called upon the directors to work in coordination to transform the state into a green Andhra Pradesh and uphold the trust reposed in them by the Chief Minister. "We will do our best to develop Amaravati as a world-class city," she said and added that the Beautification Corporation will try to increase green cover so that clean air can be breathed.
Speaking on the occasion, Kommareddy Pattabhiram, Chairman, Swachhandhra Corporation, said that the Andhra Pradesh Greening and Beautification Corporation will promote greenery in the area where the garbage has been removed. He said that the previous government had left 85 lakh tonnes of garbage in the state and on the one hand, it was the responsibility of the government to remove the garbage that comes up on a daily basis. The Beautification Corporation said that it will plan for the development of parks along with increasing greenery in the vacant lands of the state.
