Rachakonda police arrested three individuals in connection with the premeditated killing of 38-year-old Vasthapula Swamy from Pallerla village. The deceased was allegedly targeted over ongoing marital discord and extramarital affairs.
Swamy, employed at a tractor showroom, was reportedly abusive toward his wife, Vasthapula Swathi (35). Investigators say Swathi conspired with her partner Gunti Sai Kumar (33) and tea vendor Pottepaka Mahesh (33), following revelations of Swamy’s affair with Mahesh’s wife. On July 13, as Swamy travelled with a friend on a motorcycle near Katepally village, the accused pursued them in a car. Sai Kumar allegedly rammed the bike at high speed, dragging it over 120 feet. Swamy died instantly while his friend sustained critical injuries.
During questioning, Swathi confessed to orchestrating the murder. Authorities seized the car, a Honda Shine motorcycle, and three mobile phones linked to the incident. One suspect, Cheemala Ramalinga Swamy, is still absconding.
Police invoked relevant sections under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act after caste-related disclosures during interrogation. The investigation was led by Yadadri Division officials, under close supervision of senior personnel and the Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda.
The arrested were remanded into custody.
