The GP Birla Archaeological Astronomical and Scientific Research Institute will host a special public observation of the 'Zero Shadow Day' at the B M Birla Science Centre on May 9, 2026. This rare phenomenon occurs when the Sun is directly overhead, causing vertical objects to cast 'no shadow'. As for the event on May 9 at Birla Planetarium, it will be between 11.30 am and 12.30 pm, the peak moment will be 12.12 pm (Solar Noon).

Besides, the event includes guided solar observation sessions; interactive science demonstrations and student-friendly hands-on activities. The event is free and open to the public, with organizers encouraging visitors to bring simple objects to observe the effect. Visitors are encouraged to bring umbrellas, water bottles, and simple household objects like scales to observe the shadow disappearance.
