Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C V Anand on Sunday said that around 40 per cent more First Information Report (FIRs) registered this year as compared to the previous year.
After releasing the annual report at Integrated Command Control Center (ICCC), Commissioner C V Anand said that main reason for the increase of FIRs can be attributed to the rise in bodily crimes, property crimes, child sexual abuse cases and cybercrimes showing a drastic rise.
Commissioner said that Hyderabad police registered 35,944 cases in the year 2024 as compared to 25,488 cases the previous year. The bodily crime cases registered were 8,447 this year while last year 5098 cases were booked and 5,328 property crime cases were registered this year compared to the previous year when 3551 cases were booked.
Police Commissioner, CV Anand, said the police are serious in registering the FIRs and investigating all the offences. “Due to free registration of the FIR there is an increase in the number of cases. The population of the city is also growing,” he said.
The police are adopting a zero tolerance approach to any crime and all the wings of the city police are seriously following the cases.
“Cases are registered for cell phone snatching and dedicated teams are apprehending and arresting the offenders. Organized crimes have come down in the city and activities of all the rowdy sheeters are under surveillance and control,” said Anand.
City police commissioner C.V. Anand said that the peaceful conduct of Parliament elections, alongside major events, festivities and religious processions is a testament to meticulous planning, seamless execution and exemplary coordination. “Special emphasis has been placed on strengthening night policing and maintaining vigil over all forms of criminal activity during night hours. Furthermore, the induction of 1,127 new police constables into the force augurs well for the city’s security, traffic management and the overall efficiency of the Hyderabad City Police,” he said.
