Former Telangana Sahitya Academy Chairman Juluru Gowri Shankar accused the state government of neglecting and exploiting the sentiments of the Backward Classes. He said the Congress came to power by showcasing the Kamareddy BC Declaration but failed to implement its promises, pushing the BC community into deep disappointment. He stated that Sai Eshwarachary’s self-sacrifice reflects the burning anguish within the BCs and demanded the government provide his family with ₹1 crore compensation, a government job for his wife, and full responsibility for the children’s education.
Gowri Shankar criticised the government for conducting local body elections with reduced reservations after promising 42% quota to BCs.
He alleged that the ruling party knowingly deceived BCs despite being aware that a constitutional amendment is required for enhanced reservations. He urged poets, writers, intellectuals, and civil society members to support the rising BC movement.
Vemulawada Madhan Mohan, President of the Telangana State Viswabrahmin Matru Sangham, termed Eshwarachary’s act a “government-induced death.” Poets Vanapatla Subbayya, Rapolu Sudarshan, Lakshman Goud and others expressed solidarity with the BC movement.
