Jadcherla MLA Janampalli Anirudh Reddy alleged on Friday that in the first phase of the Panchayat elections, Congress candidates contested independently, while the BRS and BJP secretly joined hands and contested together. He questioned how BRS leaders—who managed to secure only 13 votes in his own village, Rangareddyguda—could have the right to criticise him. He stated that Rangareddyguda is not his only village; every village in the constituency belongs to him.
In the first phase, Congress candidates won in more than 50% of the Panchayats across Jadcherla constituency, while in many places BRS could not even field candidates, he criticized. Speaking to the media at his camp office, following the announcement of the phase-one results, Anirudh Reddy slammed the BRS leaders for spreading propaganda that the victory of the BJP candidate in his native village, Rangareddyguda, was an indication of his defeat as an MLA.
He reminded them that the BRS candidate secured only 13 votes in the village. He stated that despite carrying out several development works in Rangareddyguda—such as a Rs 3.5 crore power substation, a Rs 90 lakh CC road, and roads in Dalitwada—the villagers might still be displeased with him because he had promised two years ago to remove the sponge iron factory causing problems in the village. However, he hasn’t been able to fulfill that promise due to the matter being in court, he explained.
Anirudh Reddy alleged BRS and BJP tactically united and contested together, and that in places like Rajapur, the fact that BRS and BJP leaders stood beside the winning candidates and took photos was proof of this. He urged Congress leaders to recognize that they lost certain Panchayats due to lack of unity in the first phase. He advised everyone to put aside differences, sit together, and contest unitedly.
