A unique event, the ‘Pink Picnic,’ was held at Botanical Gardens on Sunday to raise awareness about breast cancer among families. Organized by the Oncology Department of KIMS Gachibowli Hospital, one of the city’s leading hospitals, the event attracted around a thousand attendees, including children and adults.
Unlike traditional awareness programs, the Pink Picnic featured multiple activity stalls, making the experience engaging and family-friendly. Yoga sessions by the Ankitam team, diet counseling, sound therapy, and a Kathak dance performance by Archana from Naadbed were among the attractions. A special stall focused on breast self-examination, with volunteers training women to perform the tests themselves.
Innovative health solutions were also showcased. Gujarat-based Iota introduced the ‘M-Strip,’ a self-testing kit for cervical cancer, allowing women to detect HPV at home using menstrual blood, a breakthrough that removes the need for hospital visits and encourages early detection.
With over 100 medical students volunteering, the Pink Picnic truly lived up to its motto: health need not be boring.
