In a bold move that underscores the state government's commitment to women’s financial empowerment, the much-awaited ‘Aadabidda Nidhi’ scheme is gearing up for launch in Andhra Pradesh. Under this flagship initiative, all eligible women above the age of 18 will receive Rs.1,500 every month — a direct annual support of Rs.18,000 aimed at elevating financial independence and dignity.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, known for his fast-paced execution of electoral promises, is now racing ahead to implement this key commitment of his government. With groundwork nearing completion, the scheme's official web portal is expected to go live shortly, allowing eligible women to apply online with ease. This isn't just another welfare announcement but  a budget-backed plan.

A whopping Rs.3,300 crore has already been earmarked in the 2025-26 state budget for Aadabidda Nidhi. The fund allocation reflects the government’s intent to make it inclusive and impactful across various social segments. According to the officials, the funds are being split like Rs. 1,000 crore for women from Backward Classes (BC) communities, Rs. 630 crore for economically weaker women in the general category, Rs. 84 crore reserved for minority women, and remaining funds will be directed towards Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) women beneficiaries.

The Aadabidda Nidhi is not merely a direct cash transfer programme. It is being projected as a mission to empower women with choice, autonomy, and basic financial stability. With rising inflation, economic uncertainty, and growing needs for gender-sensitive governance, this monthly support could make a tangible difference in millions of lives.

The Aadabidda Nidhi was one of the most resonant poll promises made by the TDP-led alliance ahead of the 2024 elections — especially aimed at mobilizing women voters. With the scheme now on the verge of rollout, the message is loud and clear: this government means business. Officials say disbursement may begin as early as next month, and beneficiary identification is already in advanced stages. With online applications expected to be open within weeks, the administration is urging eligible women to keep necessary documents ready for digital enrollment.
