This was the assurance Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, as per BJP Deputy Floor Leader in Assembly and Adilabad MLA Payal Shankar. Recalling the moment in the Assembly proceedings on Monday, Shankar described how he personally witnessed the exchange.

"After becoming the Adilabad MLA, I invited PM Modi for an official event in Adilabad, attended by CM Revanth Reddy. Backstage, the three of us were together when the Prime Minister told the Chief Minister that the Centre would extend all possible support to the state," Shankar revealed during discussions on the state budget’s Demands for Grants.

The BJP Deputy Floor Leader further backed his claims with Union Minister Kishan Reddy’s statements, citing a document that details Rs 11 lakh crore in central assistance to Telangana over the past 11 years. Challenging the ruling party, he demanded a special debate on Central funds received by the state, asserting that the BJP would provide all figures and evidence.

Payal Shankar said that Modi was prioritizing all states which is why he became the PM for the third time. With the Prime Minister himself assuring support, Shankar questioned—what more could a state government ask for?

Shankar’s remarks came in response to Minister Ponnam Prabhakar’s challenge to Telangana BJP, urging them to secure the state’s rightful share of funds from the Centre before accusing the government. Ponnam pointed out that despite Telangana’s persistent efforts—unlike the previous BRS regime—central aid remains elusive, even during natural calamities like the Khammam floods.

Amidst the heated debate, Payal Shankar also emphasized key concerns, including on farm loan waiver, immediate aid for farmers facing crop loss, and an investigation into 25 HMDA lakes maintained under corporate CSR funds, where unchecked encroachments were occurring.

Additionally, he highlighted how real estate developers were exploiting ‘lake view’ properties for premium pricing. He also reiterated the need for balanced development across Telangana, urging the state to capitalize on the Hyderabad-Nagpur Industrial Corridor to uplift Adilabad.
