Agri scientists to educate farmers of 1200 villages in farming

Starting today (May 5) scientists from Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University will educate the farmers on cultivation-related issues. This programme is being organised in 1,200 villages across the Telangana State from May 5 to June 13. The Minister said that more than 200 teams of scientists have been constituted for the occasion. Minister for Agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao has announced that the Telangana informed that than 200 teams of scientists have been constituted for the occasion.

About 100 teams will participate in the Southern Telangana mandals while about 50 teams in the Northern and central Telangana mandals.

In addition to conducting their daily programme, each team will educate farmers on reducing urea use, using chemicals carefully, preserving payment receipts, conserving irrigation water, crop rotation, and planting trees at farmer forums in selected villages or at any other convenient location on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Along with these issues, suggestions and advice are provided on the many challenges being faced by the farming community.

Each team will consist of two scientists, agricultural students, agriculture department officials, other local government officials, progressive farmers, associations. Local public representatives, school teachers and students will also be involved.

This programme is organised by all the agricultural colleges, polytechnics, agricultural research institutes, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Eruvaka Kendras of the university in collaboration with the Agriculture department.
