Labour and Mines Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy said on Sunday that the path shown by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar serves as a guiding light for progress in both the education and economic sectors. Just as Ambedkar provided direction to the nation, he said, people should grow by moving forward along the same path.
The Minister called upon all Buddhists living in Hyderabad to unite and promote Buddhist activities. Stating that Ambedkar’s vision was centred on working for the welfare of all, he advised Ambedkarites to strive for economic and social advancement.
Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy launched a Buddhist calendar prepared under the aegis of the Bahujan Samyak Sanghatan at the Buddha statue, Hussain Sagar. Bahujan Samyak Sanghatan President Preetha Harit and noted Buddhist intellectual Bantiji were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Bahujan Samyak Sanghatan President Preetha Harit said that there is a need to imbue the entire country with Buddhist values. She also stressed upon the need to further promote peace, love and non-violence in society.
The organisers said that such programmes would help in widely spreading the teachings of Buddha and the ideals of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar among the people.
