Obanna Jayanti to be celebrated as a state festival on the 11th January

BC Welfare Minister S Savitha said on Sunday  that the state government will officially celebrate on 11th of January the birth anniversary of Vadde Obanna, the first freedom fighter who fought against the atrocities of the British colonial rulers in South India before the First War of Independence in all district headquarters and Anantapur town at the state level. 

A delegation of Vaddera community members led by Vaddera Corporation Chairman Malle Eswara Rao met Minister Savitha at the camp office in Tadepalli and discussed the birth anniversary of Vadde Obanna. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Savitha said that the coalition government has given top priority to the dignity of the BCs and has officially celebrated the birth anniversaries of Vishwakarma, Valmiki, Kanakadasa, Bhagiratha, Vadde Obanna and Gauthu Lachanna. 

She made it clear that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had decided to celebrate the birth anniversary as a state festival with the intention of informing the future generations about the heroic spirit of Vadde Obanna against the atrocities of the British rulers. The Vaddera community members expressed happiness over the celebration of Vadde Obanna's birth anniversary as a state festival.
