Amaravati Andhra Pradesh added 3,865.6 MW of renewable energy capacity during 2025-26, nearly a four fold increase compared to the 1,085.1 MW installed the previous financial year, reflecting the state's rapid emergence as one of the country's fastest-growing renewable energy destinations.

The sharp surge marks a significant turnaround in Andhra Pradesh's renewable energy sector after years of relatively modest capacity additions, positioning the state among the country's fastest-growing renewable energy destinations.

"Andhra Pradesh added 3,865.63 MW of renewable energy capacity during 2025-26, compared to 1,085.15 MW in 2024-25, reflecting a nearly four-fold increase," said an official press release on Monday.

The state added 125.42 MW of renewable energy capacity in 2021-22, 148.62 MW in 2022-23 and 59.15 MW in 2023-24 before additions crossed the one GW mark in 2024-25 and accelerated to nearly 3.9 GW in 2025-26, it said.

The surge in capacity addition was attributed to the state's emphasis on clean energy, backed by investor-friendly policies, faster project clearances, efficient implementation and large-scale investments in renewable energy infrastructure.

Andhra Pradesh has rapidly positioned itself as a preferred destination for renewable energy projects, contributing to the country's clean energy transition while creating investments, employment opportunities and sustainable economic growth across the state, the release added.
