Andhra Pradesh government is all set to launch the ‘Annadata Sukhibhava’ scheme on August 2, with direct cash benefit transfers to nearly 47 lakh farmers across the state. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will officially inaugurate the scheme at Veerayapalem in Darsi Mandal, Prakasam district. Under the first phase, the state will transfer Rs.5,000 to each eligible farmer, disbursing a total of Rs.2,342.92 crore. Combined with the Rs.2,000 from the Centre under PM-KISAN, farmers will receive Rs.7,000 in the first installment.
This initiative is part of the state’s broader “Super Six” guarantees promised by the coalition government. CM Naidu, during a high-level review with senior officials from agriculture, finance, revenue, and water resources departments, emphasized that supporting farmers is not a burden but a responsibility. He directed district collectors to ensure seamless implementation, urging officials to treat this as a celebration across gram panchayats and mandal centres.
Naidu asserted that the previous administration left financial institutions in disarray, and the current government is striving to rebuild the system. “We promised to support farmers, and we are delivering. This scheme is proof that we are keeping the people’s trust,” he said. To ensure awareness and transparency, beneficiaries will receive pre-notification messages via the ‘Manamitra’ platform, and a toll-free number 155251 is set up to resolve grievances.
The government has planned to provide a total of Rs.20,000 per farmer annually, Rs.6,000 from the Centre and Rs.14,000 from the state, disbursed in three installments. The Centre has already allocated Rs. 831.51 crore for the first installment.
CM Naidu also addressed issues concerning fertilizer availability and water management. He instructed collectors to fill reservoirs like Gandikota, Brahmasagar, Somasila, and Kandaleru to full capacity. He warned of potential impacts from U.S.-imposed 25% tariffs on Indian agricultural exports and advised early planning.
So far, out of 59,750 registered grievances under the scheme, 58,464 have been resolved. Officials including CS K. Vijayanand, Agriculture Secretary B. Rajasekhar, and district collectors were present at the review.
