In a significant relief to farmers who contributed land for the capital city, the Andhra Pradesh government has enhanced the annual annuity under the land pooling scheme. The decision was taken at the 60th meeting of the AP Capital Region Development Authority chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Under the revised policy, annuity for dry (metta) lands has been increased to Rs Rs 40,000 per acre, while irrigated (jareebu) lands will receive Rs 60,000 per acre. Additionally, the government approved a structured annual increment for the next ten years, Rs 3,000 per acre for dry lands and Rs 5,000 per acre for irrigated lands, providing long-term financial security to farmers.
Alongside this, the authority cleared development proposals worth over Rs 4,500 crore to accelerate the stalled construction of Amaravati. Among the major approvals, Rs 1,208.41 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of Twin Towers in the proposed Quantum Valley. Works related to façade, glazing, and cladding for Secretariat, GAD, and HOD towers have been approved at a cost of Rs 2,540 crore, while Rs 798 crore has been allocated for civil works of the Assembly building.
Further, infrastructure projects including roads, drainage, and water supply in LPS Zone-11, as well as rerouting of 220 kV power lines, have also received the green signal. The Chief Minister directed officials to develop Amaravati not just as an administrative capital but as a revenue-generating city and a key economic growth engine for the state. He stressed that all structures should reflect Telugu cultural identity while meeting global architectural standards. Plans are also underway to develop Amaravati as a green and blue city with high livability standards.
Naidu called for the creation of a financial district with dedicated space for banks and institutions, along with modern infrastructure such as district cooling systems and integrated utility ducts. He also instructed officials to fast-track the Inner Ring Road and build an iconic bridge across the Krishna River connecting Vijayawada and Amaravati. The authority also approved land allocations to institutions including Securities and Exchange Board of India, Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, DAV School, and others.
