Andhra Pradesh’s traditional handicrafts have received international recognition with the Indian High Commission in Singapore choosing AP handloom and handicraft products as official gifts for guests attending the Republic Day celebrations. State Handlooms and Textiles Minister S. Savita announced that the High Commission has placed an order with Lepakshi for 400 specially curated gift boxes, highlighting the growing global demand for Andhra Pradesh’s indigenous art forms.Each gift box will feature iconic handicrafts including Sita Devi leather puppetry, elephant-shaped baggage tags, hand-painted elephant artefacts, and decorative coaster art pieces, showcasing the state’s rich artistic traditions.
Encouraged by the global response, the government has decided to establish Lepakshi showrooms abroad to expand international market access for artisans. At present, 19 Lepakshi showrooms are operating at the state and national levels. Lepakshi outlets are currently offering products with discounts ranging from 10 to 30 percent to boost public outreach.
