The Andhra Pradesh Excise Department has approved the sale of liquor in new 150 ml and 200 ml bottle sizes, a move expected to reshape the state’s liquor retail market and offer consumers more purchasing options.

The decision follows requests from several liquor manufacturing companies seeking permission to introduce additional bottle sizes suited to changing consumer preferences. The Excise Department amended existing rules and issued fresh orders allowing the new packaging formats.

Until now, liquor in Andhra Pradesh was sold mainly in 90 ml, 180 ml, 375 ml, 750 ml and one-litre bottles. The newly approved 150 ml and 200 ml variants will soon be available at retail outlets across the state.

The department has also issued packaging guidelines specifying the number of bottles permitted in each carton or case to ensure uniformity in transportation, storage and retail distribution.
