Demand total prohibition of alcohol

Mohd. Amanullah Khan, Convenor of the Mahatma Gandhi Telangana Auto Drivers JAC, on Wednesday announced full support to the one-day City Auto Bandh call given by the ALWF organisation on January 20, demanding resolution of long-pending and 'reasonable' issues faced by auto drivers.

In a press statement,  Khan appealed to auto drivers across the twin cities to participate in the strike and make it a grand success. He alleged that the root cause of the hardships faced by auto drivers was the free bus travel scheme for women and asserted that the only solution was a “do or die” agitation for the enforcement of total prohibition in the state.

Criticising the Congress government, he took a swipe at Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for calling himself a “social doctor”, alleging instead that the government was encouraging liquor sales and turning the state into a “Drunkards Telangana”. He claimed that the past two years of Congress rule had seen an alarming rise in road accidents, crimes, and atrocities against women.

Stating that the government had no alternative,  Khan demanded the implementation of total prohibition and raised the slogan “Sharab Hatao, Telangana Bachao.” He said the proposed auto bandh should serve as a “Karan Batao” protest, putting the government on notice for failing to address the genuine and long-pending grievances of auto drivers.
