Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday celebrated Sankranti festivities with residents of his native village Naravaripalle, spending nearly two hours interacting with villagers, women and children in a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by his wife Nara Bhuvaneshwari, Minister Nara Lokesh, and Brahmani. As part of the celebrations, a series of traditional games and competitions were organised for children, including musical chairs, balance walking, gunny bag race, lemon-and-spoon, three-leg race, glass-and-balloon run and other fun activities.
The Chief Minister keenly watched the events and actively encouraged the participants. His grandchildren, including those from the Nandamuri family, also took part in the games, adding to the festive cheer. Chandrababu Naidu later distributed prizes to the winners and spent time chatting with children, posing for photographs and sharing light moments with them.
Women from the village showcased colourful rangoli designs, which the Chief Minister personally inspected. Appreciating their creativity, he presented prizes to the participants. Chandrababu Naidu also received petitions from people who had come from various places and assured them that their grievances would be addressed.
Following the celebrations, the Chief Minister visited several stalls set up in the village, including those displaying millet-based tiffins, food basket programmes and natural farming produce. Anganwadi children greeted him with big smiles prompting the Chief Minister to walk up to them and interact warmly. Women told him that the Shining Centres were benefiting their children and that noticeable improvements in growth and learning were evident.
Later in the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple development projects in Naravaripalle and nearby areas. These included the inauguration of a Skill Building Centre constructed at a cost of ₹1.4 crore, a 33/11 kV semi-indoor substation built at ₹4.27 crore, and the Sanjeevani project at the Community Health Centre. He also inaugurated a road constructed at a cost of ₹70 lakh connecting A-Rangampeta–Bheemavaram Road to the Seshachala Lingeswara Swamy temple.
Additionally, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a major water supply project to transfer water from the Neeva Branch Canal to the Kalyani Dam, Moolapalli tank and four other tanks.
Local MLA Pulivarthi Nani, Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu, the District Collector and other public representatives attended the programme. The celebrations blended tradition with development, reflecting the Chief Minister’s emphasis on grassroots engagement alongside infrastructure and community welfare.
