N Ramchander Rao formally assumed charge as the Telangana BJP President at the party headquarters in Nampally on Saturday. The transition of leadership from outgoing president G. Kishan Reddy took place in the presence of senior leaders and enthusiastic cadres from across the state.
Addressing the media after assuming office, Ramchander Rao recalled his journey from a grassroots worker to state president, describing it as a testament to the BJP’s commitment to meritocracy and its culture of empowering dedicated karyakartas. “From pasting posters and working as a booth agent to leading the party in Telangana, my political journey symbolizes the opportunity that BJP offers to sincere and committed workers,” he said.
Ramchander Rao launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Telangana, accusing it of betraying the people with false promises and financial mismanagement. He highlighted that the Congress government had failed to deliver on its key poll guarantees, including the full farm loan waiver and Rs 4,000 unemployment allowance. “They claimed the state was bankrupt soon after coming to power. If that was the case, why did they make tall promises during elections?” he asked.
Refuting the Congress party’s allegations on urea shortages, Rao clarified that Centre had supplied 12 lakh metric tonnes of urea to Telangana and recently approved an additional 2 lakh tonnes. “It is the state government’s failure to distribute the urea on time. BJP is ready for a public debate on this issue. Is Congress ready?” he challenged.
He further criticized the Samajika Nyaya Samarabheri event organized by Telangana Congress at LB Stadium on Friday, alleging that it was used only to attack BJP, RSS, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while failing to meaningfully address the concerns of backward and marginalized communities.
Rao also accused Congress of misleading the Backward Classes with hollow assurances of 42% reservations in local body polls. He stated that BJP had supported the BC Bill in the Assembly and that its implementation was now the Congress government's responsibility.
Touching upon BJP’s growth in Telangana, he noted that the party had secured 8 MLA and 8 MP seats, along with 3 MLC victories in recent elections, indicating rising public trust on the saffron party. He stressed that BJP would contest all seats in the upcoming local body elections and win a majority. Ramchander Rao asserted that Telangana needs a "Double Engine Sarkar" to achieve comprehensive development and said that BJP would continue its "dharma yuddham" against the corrupt and anti-people policies of the Congress government.
Ramchander Rao writes to CM on unfulfilled promises
In his first official communication after assuming office, newly appointed Telangana BJP President Ramchander Rao has addressed a strongly worded letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, questioning the government's failure to implement the six guarantees promised by the party in its election manifesto.
The BJP chief criticized the Congress-led administration for not fulfilling even a single major promise, except for the free bus service. He pointed out that although the government had committed to delivering on these guarantees within 100 days, over 20 months have passed without substantial progress. He also emphasized the need to implement the 63 associated assurances linked to the six guarantees.
