The journey of Buyyani Srinivas Reddy and his wife Sarala portrays an inspiring story of entrepreneurial spirit, community service and visionary leadership rooted in rural Telangana. Starting his business career with a small unit “Sairam Fertilizers” in Tandur town of Vikarabad District, Buyyani Srinivas Reddy today has grown into a significant industrialist with owning Radical Bio Organics Limited (RBOL), a factory producing large quantities of ethanol and organic products, impacting the agricultural and industrial sectors statewide.  The ethanol plant was established in 2010 with the idea of benefiting farmers using yarn from the rice mill.

The plant, which initially started with a production capacity of 60,000 litres of ethanol, has now achieved a capacity of 2 lakh litres. By utilizing agricultural residues like rice husks and maize stalks for ethanol, his company not only adds value to waste but also supports farmers through better pricing and market access. This integration of agriculture and industry exemplifies rural entrepreneurship contributing to regional economic development.

Despite several ups and downs in this journey and the plant being shut down for three years in 2012, Srinivas Reddy has been reviving and running successfully. This ability to navigate crises, he mentions, is crucial for industrial sustainability, especially in emerging markets where infrastructural and financial hurdles are common. The company employs about 130 permanent staff and 70 contract laborers, predominantly from the local Tandur constituency. This strategic hiring reduces migration and fosters local empowerment. Apart from business, Srinivas Reddy has also made his mark in politics. From 2004 to 2010, he became the secretary of the youth wing of the Telugu Desam Party and later temporarily quit politics and concentrated on business. However, in his quest to do community service, he is again actively participating in politics. His services and close contacts with locals in Tandur constituency earned him strong support.

At the forefront of community service:

During the corona period, Srinivas Reddy distributed sanitizers free of cost and participated in the road cleaning activities. Also, Rs 25 lakh was collected for the metabolic disorder of the seven-month-old baby and the operation was made successful. Also, he is producing bio-products to provide better prices to farmers and providing jobs to 130 people. Moreover, Rs 2-3 lakh is being contributed to the National Defence Fund every month. Srinivas Reddy's wife, Sarala Reddy who is the Managing Director of RBOL, is playing a key role in business as well as community service. In Tandur, free EAMCET coaching and chess championships are being organized to encourage the youth. Srinivas Reddy complimented her contribution in education and social services and gave 75-80% credit of his position today to her.
