Cantonment MLA Sri Ganesh urged the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to resolve the long-pending issue of Secunderabad Cantonment Board by either merging it with GHMC or conducting immediate elections. He said that the lack of elections has pushed the board into administrative neglect, leaving people’s problems unattended. Residents are facing severe difficulties due to stalled governance, he added.

The MLA submitted a representation during the Defence Minister’s visit to Hyderabad on Wednesday, stressing that merging the board with GHMC would provide better services and administrative convenience to the people. Ganesh also appealed for the fulfillment of the poor residents’ dream of owning houses by transferring occupied lands and converting them into freehold properties. He further requested the Centre to immediately release the pending Rs.1,000 crore army charges due to the Cantonment Board.
