Central Min emphasizes need for food safety

On Sunday morning, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), under the joint supervision of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and the Andhra Pradesh Food Safety and Standards Department, organized a one-day training program on food safety and standards for small traders and street vendors at the local Tirupati Collectorate

Minister of State for AYUSH, Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Pratap Rao Jadhav addressed street vendors and Food Business Operators(FBO)s on Sunday at Tirupati saying that they are  responsible for providing unadulterated and hygienic food and that the Government of India is taking initiatives to support street vendors.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister of State said that he was very happy to participate in the training program for street vendors in the holy city of Tirupati. He said that as part of the “Project Clean Street Food Initiative”, capacity building programs will be undertaken for street vendors and small traders with the aim of providing hygienic and quality food to the people.

He said that the Central Government has approved the establishment of 100 Street Food Hubs across the country to ensure that the food consumed by the people is hygienic and of good quality, out of which four have been allocated to the state of Andhra Pradesh in Kadapa, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

He said that the Central Government is making every effort to support small traders and street vendors. He advised street vendors and street vendors to apply for registration documents online and get a license. He said that the central government has waived off the previous fee of Rs 100 for those who have applied for registration online and made it free.

He urged small traders and street vendors selling food items under Atma Nirbhar Bharat to utilize PM Swanidhi and grow financially through self-employment. He urged banks to cooperate with them. 

Later, the Union Minister of State interacted face to face with the trainee food vendors and street vendors and learned about their problems. Later, he took part in a group photo with them.

South Regional Director Sri Pancham, Joint Food Controller IPM Andhra Pradesh N. Poornachandra Rao, Telangana Deputy Director Balu Nayak, Tirupati District Revenue Officer Narasimhulu, Tirupati Assistant Food Controller Venkateswara Rao, Trainer Dr. Anjaneyulu, Food Safety Officers Maddileti, Jagadish, Narmada and others participated in this program.
