Chilkur Balaji Temple Chief Priest C S Rangarajan stressed the urgent need for reforms to ensure full transparency and accountability in temple donations, particularly in processes like the Parakamani at Tirumala.

Referring to the recent Parakamani incident as a wake-up call, he urged the Andhra Pradesh government to form a committee comprising a retired judge, an administrator, and a spiritual head to investigate and submit a comprehensive report within three months, including measures to prevent future misuse.

‘Devotees’ offerings are symbols of faith, not just finances, ’Rangarajan said. He suggested reforms such as automated counting, CCTV coverage, RFID-enabled hundi boxes, third-party audits, a public transparency portal, staff rotation, whistleblower protection, and regular orientation on ‘Seva and Dharma’ for temple personnel. Rangarajan urged devotees to prioritize transparent governance over politics, emphasizing, ‘Upholding integrity ensures Lord Venkateswara’s grace protects the institution.’
