Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday announced a relief of Rs 50,000 per hectare for onion farmers whose crops were destroyed by recent heavy rains. Naidu highlighted that the decision aims to support farmers at a time when onion cultivation had increased. “We have decided to pay every onion farmer Rs 50,000 per hectare. This will benefit farmers cultivating onions across 45,000 acres,” he said in a post on X.

Acknowledging the financial strain on the state, the Chief Minister emphasized that the government prioritized farmers’ welfare. “The state’s prosperity depends on the prosperity of our farmers. Whether it is minimum support price or any other issue concerning them, we will stand by them,” Naidu added. He also noted that over the past 15 months, the government has acted promptly to extend support to farmers, reinforcing its commitment to agricultural development and farmer welfare.
