Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday distributed pensions in Munakkayalawaripalle of Annamaiah district, declaring that his life in politics has never allowed him rest and that his only mission is to secure a “golden future” for the younger generation.
At the programme, the Chief Minister personally handed over pension benefits to a differently abled woman, Sumitramma, and later interacted with washermen at a dhobi ghat in Boyinapalli. When they requested sheds and drying facilities, he immediately directed officials to provide the infrastructure.
Addressing a massive public meeting in Boyinapalli, Naidu said the coalition government’s sole aim was to bring light into the lives of the poor. “Pensions are not charity; they are a responsibility,” he asserted, recalling that it was N.T. Rama Rao who introduced pensions in Andhra Pradesh. “From Rs.30 then, we have raised them to Rs.4,000 now. TDP is the only government that increased pensions for the disabled by 12 times,” he added.
The Chief Minister came down heavily on the previous YSRCP regime, alleging that undeserving beneficiaries were granted pensions while genuine disabled citizens were neglected. “Public wealth must go only to the deserving poor,” he said.
Naidu also underlined his vision of sustainable development, warning against reckless borrowing. “No family prospers on debt. Only wealth creation can sustain welfare,” he said, citing IT and women’s self-help groups as models that transformed lives.
In a fiery political broadside, Naidu threw down an open challenge to the YSRCP leadership. “Come to the Assembly and debate with me on Pulivendula, Vontimitta elections, Viveka’s murder, the knife drama, and your governance failures. Let the people see who stands for development and who for destruction,” he declared to thunderous applause.
Rejecting allegations of drama in his political life, Naidu said, “Even when I was attacked with claymore mines, I did not flinch. I am not one to play dramas. My strength is the people.” The Chief Minister also warned that atrocities against women would invite strict legal action. “That day will be your last day,” he cautioned, pledging to ensure safety, justice, and development.
