The process of auctioning over 1,400 shops constructed in Double Bedroom (2BHK) housing colonies under the Housing Corporation will commence from April 9 across Hyderabad and surrounding districts. The auctions will be conducted in 36 colonies spread across Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri, and Sangareddy districts under the CURE jurisdiction, following notifications issued by the respective District Collectors.

The initiative aims to promote local economic activity while ensuring sustainable maintenance of these residential colonies. In the first phase, auctions will be held on April 9 and 10 in Rangareddy district, covering 273 shops in 8 colonies. Subsequent auctions will take place on April 15 and 16 in Hyderabad district for 77 shops across 10 colonies, while Medchal Malkajgiri district will witness auctions for 892 shops in 12 colonies on April 15 and 17. In Sangareddy district, 372 shops in 6 colonies will be auctioned between April 15 and 18, with additional auctions scheduled on April 21.

The shops, ranging from 60 to 400 square feet, have been designed to cater to the daily needs of residents. They will be auctioned on an “as is where is” basis at prices lower than prevailing market rates, making them accessible to small entrepreneurs.

Revenue generated from the auctions will be utilized exclusively for the maintenance and development of the respective colonies. Welfare associations of residents will be formed to manage these funds through joint accounts, ensuring transparency and accountability. This initiative is expected to enhance civic amenities, create livelihood opportunities, and improve the overall quality of life in these housing colonies.
