141 drunk-and-drive offenders penalized in Kamareddy

Kamareddy: Drunk driving continues to be a major cause of road accidents in Kamareddy district, often resulting in fatalities and injuries. Recognizing this threat, district police have intensified special checks across all police stations, aiming to prevent accidents and ensure road safety. As part of these measures, offenders caught driving under the influence are being produced in court, where judges impose jail terms or fines. Today, courts sentenced a total of 141 individuals for drunk-and-drive violations.

At Kamareddy town police station, 1 person received 2 days’ jail and 12 others 1 day each, with fines of Rs 1,000 per individual. Biknoor police station saw 2 offenders sentenced to 1 day each (Rs 1,000 fine per person), while Domakonda and Sadashivnagar police stations each recorded 1 person fined Rs 1,000 and sentenced to 1 day in jail. In total, fines imposed across the district amounted to Rs 1,48,000.
