The Telangana government has directed officials to ensure that all schools, Gurukulams, Kasturba Vidyalayas and residential hostels are fully prepared for reopening, with top priority given to student safety, hygiene and a healthy learning environment.

State Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, and Women & Child Welfare, Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, issued these instructions during a review meeting held on Monday at the District Collectorate. The meeting was attended by District Collector Borkhade Hemant Sahadev Rao, Additional Collectors C.H. Mahender and M. Sampath Rao, along with officials from various departments.

The Minister joined the meeting via telephone from Hyderabad and gave clear directions to the officials. She stressed that there should be no compromise on students’ security, health, and cleanliness. All necessary facilities must be made available in every school and hostel before reopening. Minister Seethakka instructed officials to thoroughly clean school buildings, classrooms, hostel rooms, kitchens, dining halls, toilets and drinking water tanks.

Special attention was directed towards preventing water stagnation in school premises during the rainy season and launching intensive mosquito-control and sanitation drives. She emphasized continuous monitoring of schools and hostels by officials. Any issues that arise should be immediately brought to the notice of higher authorities. The Minister also called for organizing awareness programs on sports, social service, culture, traditions and good habits alongside academics.

Seethakka instructed officials to pay special attention to the quality of food supplied in hostels. They should regularly inspect stocks of rice, vegetables, eggs, and other provisions. Kitchen hygiene and food safety standards must be strictly followed.

District Collector Borkhade Hemant Sahadev Rao directed that every school and hostel be personally inspected by officials. RO plants, toilets, bathrooms, drinking water supply, and other facilities should be checked on the ground. He called for coordinated efforts by the Medical & Health, Revenue, and Panchayat Raj departments to organize medical camps and sanitation programs in schools.
