Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated a major housing project under the Indiramma scheme for the underprivileged in Greater Hyderabad. At Narayana Jopidi Sangham in Rasoolpura, Secunderabad Cantonment, 288 double bedroom houses were completed across five blocks at a cost of Rs 22.32 crore.

Under this initiative, 344 beneficiaries received possession of the double bedroom homes, including 47 from Gandhi Nagar, 9 from Sriram Nagar, and 288 from Narayana Jopidi. The event was attended by Parliament member Etala Rajender, Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, Cantonment MLA Sri Ganesh, Deputy Mayor Mote Srilatha, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, Housing PD Gautam, and Collector Dasari Harichandan.

Minister Srinivas Reddy emphasized that providing dignified housing to the poor is a government priority. “Despite financial constraints, the state has delivered 4.5 lakh Indiramma homes so far. GHMC beneficiaries will soon receive apartment-style houses at their current locations, and incomplete projects will be completed promptly,” he said.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar added that pending double bedroom homes were completed with allocated funds, fulfilling long-awaited promises. Over the past decade, no such homes had been delivered, creating high expectations among residents.

The ministers also highlighted additional welfare measures: 60,000 new ration cards in Hyderabad, six kilograms of rice per family, 200 units of free electricity, and gas connections for 500 families. They stressed that Narayana Jopidi’s completed homes should serve as a model for future projects, prioritizing slum and houseless populations for new constructions.
