Chairman, State Food Commission, Chitta Vijaya Pratap Reddy suggested on Friday that ration commodities should be distributed to the cardholders properly and proper distribution of eggs, nutritional foods like balamrutham and bala sanjeevani should be done to pregnant women/lactating mothers/children at anganwadi centres as per government norms.
A review meeting was held under his supervision at the food commission office. During the meeting, the officials discussed the public distribution system, mid-day meal scheme, amenities at welfare department hostels and implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana scheme and other deficiencies.
He also suggested that students in schools and welfare hostels should be provided with food, eggs and chikkis as per the "menu" decided by the government. For the first delivery pregnant women will get Rs. 1,000 in urban and Rs 600 in rural areas from the state government in addition to the Rs. 5,000 being given by central government under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana scheme.
The Chairman warned that it would be recommended to the higher authorities to make corrections in case of any deficiencies in implementation, file suo motu cases if there are serious errors, impose fines and take immediate action against the officials involved in irregularities.
