Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner R.V. Karnan has instructed officials to intensify desilting and sanitation measures at the Mallepally Nala to prevent flooding and water stagnation during the ongoing rainy season.

On Monday, the Commissioner, accompanied by Khairatabad Zonal Commissioner Anurag Jayanti, inspected the nala under the Mehdipatnam Circle limits. During the visit, he noted heavy silt deposits obstructing free water flow and directed engineering teams to speed up removal works. He stressed that uninterrupted flow of rainwater through the nala is crucial to avoid waterlogging in nearby colonies.

Karnan further ordered that fencing be set up wherever required to enhance public safety. He emphasized that sanitation staff must ensure continuous cleanliness in the surrounding areas to curb unhygienic conditions. Highlighting the need for coordination, the Commissioner urged the engineering and sanitation wings to work together for effective nala maintenance. He reiterated that timely action would minimize the risk of urban flooding and improve the overall environment for residents in Mallepally and adjoining localities.
