On the occasion of National Education Day on November 11th, students of Glendale Academy, Hyderabad, took learning beyond the classroom by leading an awareness session for senior citizens on “Cyber Safety – Dos and Don’ts for Senior Citizens.” The session was conducted by Grade 7 students Aarohi Singh, Varunika Singh, and Risha Kedia, who guided participants through simple and effective ways to stay safe online.
The session was attended by 13 senior members who actively participated in discussions, sharing their experiences with fake calls, phishing links, and online fraud. The student presenters explained key types of cyber threats, including identity theft and scams, through interactive demonstrations and real-life examples. They also shared simple, practical tips to identify and avoid online risks.
Speaking on the occasion, Minu Salooja, Director, Glendale International Schools, said that true education is not confined to textbooks but is reflected in how students contribute to society. She mentioned that this initiative exemplified the “Glendale philosophy” of holistic growth and social responsibility.
Empowering others through knowledge is the highest form of learning, she said and expressed her happiness for students leading this meaningful effort. One of the participants Neelam Sethi spoke about the experience, adding that the students made the topic of cyber safety to understand with examples which were practical and relatable.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where participants shared personal experiences and sought practical advice. Reflecting on the experience, the students said that they felt proud to share what they learned about staying safe online, especially with people who had so much life experience.
