The discovery of fragments believed to be from gold ornaments in an agricultural field at Kopakulapadu village in Chennaraopet mandal has triggered widespread curiosity, with locals calling for an official investigation into their origin.

The fragments were reportedly found by women agricultural labourers while weeding a crop in a farmer's field. After learning about the discovery, the farmer, who had taken the land on lease for cultivation, questioned the workers, who handed over the recovered pieces. He subsequently informed the police.

The incident has revived local claims that the area once housed ancient temples and that similar gold ornaments were unearthed in the same field nearly three decades ago by the previous landowner and later by one of his farm workers. The matter gained attention after the son of the former landowner lodged a complaint with the police, alleging that those who found the ornaments had shared them among themselves and demanding that the recovered items be returned to him.

Meanwhile, rumours of hidden treasure have drawn curious visitors to the farmland, with villagers claiming that several people have been searching the area at night. Residents have urged the police and the Archaeology Department to conduct a scientific investigation to determine whether the recovered fragments are of historical or archaeological significance.
