In a major boost to Andhra Pradesh’s digital and media landscape, global tech giant Google is actively exploring the establishment of a YouTube Academy in Amaravati. The proposed facility is likely to come up in the Media City zone of the capital region, aligning with the state's vision to develop Amaravati as a hub for media, entertainment, and technology.
Discussions between Google and the Andhra Pradesh government began last year and have recently picked up pace under the new administration. A Google delegation visited Amaravati on Friday, inspecting sites between Ananthavaram and Nekkallu villages in Thullur mandal, near the E-8 road corridor. The identified land—spread over 143 acres under survey numbers 10, 12, 13, 15, and 16—was previously earmarked for the Media City project by APCRDA. A senior CRDA official noted the site’s logistical advantages, being close to the proposed international airport and major railway lines. The state government is reportedly keen on allocating the land, seeing immense economic and branding potential in hosting the YouTube Academy.
While an official announcement is awaited, sources suggest a formal agreement may soon materialize. A senior official commented, “Google’s interest reaffirms our ambition to position Amaravati as India’s next big media-tech innovation hub.”
