Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted that the state’s 2025 New Energy Policy targets 20,000 MW of green power capacity by 2029–30
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced that Telangana has attracted green power investments worth Rs 1 lakh crore, underscoring the state’s ambitious vision for a sustainable energy future.
Speaking to the media after visiting the Greenko Integrated Power Project at Pinnapuram in Kurnool district on Saturday, he said Telangana is leading with strategic initiatives in the renewable energy sector.
He highlighted that the state’s 2025 New Energy Policy targets 20,000 MW of green power capacity by 2029–30. “With rising electricity demand nationwide, Telangana is proactively expanding power generation to ensure surplus availability,” he stated.
Bhatti Vikramarka stressed that abundant electricity is essential for production, which in turn drives employment and economic growth. He cautioned that relying solely on coal increases both costs and pollution, further emphasising the urgent need for clean energy alternatives.
He said countries worldwide are investing in technologies like solar, wind, floating solar, hydrogen, thermal and pumped storage power. Explaining pumped storage, he said solar power generated during the day is stored for night-time use, enhancing energy efficiency.
The Deputy CM toured the 4,000-acre Greenko site, calling it the first of its kind globally for integrating solar, wind and 1,680 MW of hydro pumped storage at a single location. He conducted an aerial inspection of key facilities including reservoirs, the powerhouse, and substation.
He was joined by officials including Energy Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, TRANSCO CMD Krishna Bhaskar, GENCO CMD Harish, and MLAs Madhusudhan Reddy and Megha Reddy.
