Govt to crack down on cabinet decision leaks

26-11-2025 12:00:00 AM

Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Tuesday strongly condemned the unauthorized leak of Cabinet decisions and summaries to opposition BRS leaders, which surfaced in the media. Addressing reporters post the conclusion of the Cabinet meeting, he revealed that the government has noticed these breaches of confidentiality and vowed a thorough inquiry.

"We will conduct an investigation and take strict action against those responsible," Babu warned, emphasizing that Cabinet proceedings are highly sensitive and must remain confidential until official Government Orders (GOs) are issued. The entire Cabinet shares this resolve to safeguard decision-making integrity, he added.

Responding to BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao's allegations of a massive scam involving lakhs of crores in industrial land transfers under the Congress regime, Babu dismissed them as baseless propaganda. He clarified that the new Industrial Land Conversion Policy, approved by the Cabinet, is a transparent initiative to decongest Hyderabad, reduce pollution, and boost state revenue without burdening citizens with new taxes. Unlike the previous BRS government's arbitrary conversions for select individuals without policy or Cabinet nod—full details of which will soon be exposed—this policy offers equal opportunity to all eligible owners.

Plots with 80-foot road access will be converted at 50% of the Standard Market Rate, facilitating the relocation of industries from inner-city areas like Nacharam, Moula-Ali, Uppal, Jeedimetla, Balanagar, and Kukatpally beyond the Outer Ring Road. The Cabinet has also greenlit the 'Hilltop' policy proposed by the Industries department to streamline such relocations, with procedures to be finalized by the department secretary before GO issuance.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu echoed the commitment to pollution-free urban growth, noting the policy's role in funding welfare without tax hikes. He announced tenders for 2,000 MW of pumped storage power under five-year agreements, with government-provided land and water for projects up to 10,000 MW, prioritizing sales to state DISCOMs.

Under the Clean and Green Energy Policy, Babu highlighted that new industries can now self-generate captive power without capacity limits, securing instant approvals to attract investments. Existing units will continue under prevailing supply norms, positioning Telangana as an industry-friendly green hub.
