Sangareddy district witnessed a 28 per cent decline in grave crime cases in 2025, according to the annual report released by SP Partitosh Pankaj. The number of serious offences fell to 235 from 323 in 2024. However, kidnapping cases rose sharply by 39 per cent, increasing from 90 last year to 125 in 2025.

Non-grave cases remained almost unchanged, with 8,020 incidents reported in 2025 compared to 8,021 in 2024. Overall, the district recorded 8,255 cases, reflecting a slight one per cent rise over the previous year’s 8,344.

Missing person cases also showed a considerable increase. In 2025, 1,051 people, including 594 women, went missing, up from 984 in 2024. Of these, 894 were traced, leaving 157 still unaccounted for. Over the past three years, police have not been able to trace 311 missing persons, including 134 women.

Gambling-related offences saw a dramatic rise. Police registered 1,264 cases under the Gaming Act in 2025, a huge jump from 105 in 2024. Recoveries also surged, with Rs 78.46 lakh recovered in 2025 compared to Rs 21.33 lakh the previous year.

While Sangareddy shows improvement in serious crimes, the increasing cases of kidnappings, missing persons, and gaming offences highlight areas needing continued police attention.
