HC seeks reply on Siddipet Nursing Home case

The State High Court will consider the question whether the police ought to have acted upon a complaint of alleged medical negligence by Venkateshwara Nursing Home in Siddipet. Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar ordered notice in a writ plea alleging that a patient was misdiagnosed with a heart attack on the basis of an incorrect ECG report and charged Rs. 50,000 for treatment. T

The petitioner Battu Lavanya alleged that he visited the nursing home for a medical check-up, where an ECG examination purportedly revealed that he had suffered a heart attack. The hospital allegedly collected approximately Rs. 50,000 towards treatment. Subsequently, the patient discovered that the ECG report did not belong to him. Upon undergoing a fresh examination at another medical facility, no signs of a heart attack were detected.

The petitioner contended that despite lodging a complaint with the Station House Officer on October 6 no action was taken against the nursing home. Aggrieved by the alleged inaction, the petitioner approached the court seeking directions to the District Medical and Health Officer and the police authorities to examine the complaint and take appropriate action.

HC seeks OU reply on PhD admission irregularities

Justice Juvvadi Sridevi of the Telangana High Court sought an explanation from Osmania University over allegations of irregularities in the notification issued for filling Ph.D. vacancies in the Department of Law. The judge is dealing with a writ petition filed by Eslavath Venkatesh, a research aspirant. The petitioner is challenging the notification of the university issued in May 2026 for filling Ph.D. vacancies under Category-I. He contended that the university failed to follow the reservation policy of the state, seat matrix and roster-point system while notifying the vacancies.

He also alleged that available vacancies under research supervisors were not properly taken into consideration. Counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner was aggrieved only by the admissions made in the Department of Law. He contended that the petitioner and the selected candidates secured 208 marks, but the dean of the said college allegedly showed favouritism in the selection process. He further argued that vacancies ought to have been notified after a gap of six months, whereas the university issued the notification after a period of nearly two and a half years.

The petitioner also challenged the subsequent order of the university dated October 15 rejecting his representation against the notification, alleging that it was passed without proper application of mind. The standing counsel for Osmania University contended that the notification could not be challenged at this stage. The judge ordered notices to the other respondents and directed the standing counsel of the university to file their response in the matter.
