Hyderabad, 16 May 2026: The Department of Clinical Psychology, Helen Keller’s Institute of Research & Rehabilitation for the Disabled Children (HKIRRDC), Hyderabad, successfully organized an Online National Seminar on “Psychology of Language and Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)” on Saturday, 16 May 2026, through Zoom and YouTube Live.
The seminar was conducted as part of the 99/100 Day Action Plan – Praja Palana, Pragati Pranalika, Rising Telangana 2047, Telangana Education Week 2026 Celebrations, Viksit Bharat 2047 and Mental Health Awareness Month 2026.
The programme witnessed an overwhelming response with nearly 600 registrations and active participation on zoom and YouTube from psychologists, academicians, researchers, media professionals, counselors, rehabilitation experts, educators, scholars and students representing various universities, institutions and organizations from across India.
The programme was presided over by Prof. Pathan Ummar Khan, Founder and Chairman, Helen Keller’s Group of Institutions, who highlighted the institution’s 40 years of dedicated service in education, rehabilitation, skill development and empowerment of persons with disabilities. He emphasized the need to integrate psychology, language communication and Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) to promote holistic human development, emotional well-being and social transformation.
Delivering the keynote session on “Psychology in Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)”, Prof. Dr. Challa Krishnaveer Abhishek, Vice-President of EQ4Peace Worldwide Inc., USA, discussed the significance of peace studies, emotional education, consciousness and traditional Indian psychological thought in addressing modern psychological and societal challenges.
Prof. Dr. G. Sri Krishna, Professor & Head, Department of Clinical Psychology, HKIRRDC, delivered a special lecture on “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)”, explaining the role of cognition, emotions, communication and behavioral interventions in mental health and personality development.
Senior journalist and media educator Sri Satyapal Menon presented an informative session on “Media & Consumer Psychology”, discussing the influence of media on public perception, consumer behavior and social awareness.
Sri Vijay Kumar, Senior Journalist and Communication Faculty, delivered a lecture on “Communication as a Tool for Behavioral Change”, emphasizing communication strategies for mental health promotion, behavioral change and community development.
In the afternoon session, Smt. Aparna Rajhans, Assistant Professor of Sanskrit and IKS Cell Convener, St. Joseph’s Degree & PG College, Hyderabad, delivered a lecture on “The Five Sheaths & Psychology”, explaining the relevance of Indian philosophical traditions and psychological well-being.
Prof. Dr. Aparna Vajpayee, Professor of Psychology & HR, P P Savani University, Surat, delivered an insightful talk on “Psychology of Unspoken Language”, highlighting the importance of non-verbal communication, emotional intelligence, interpersonal behavior and psychological understanding of silence and expressions.
Sri Ravindra R M, Assistant Professor, HKIRRDC, delivered a lecture on “Indian Psychology & Indian Psychological Thought”, emphasizing indigenous perspectives on cognition, behavior, emotional balance and holistic mental well-being.
Participants appreciated the seminar for its interdisciplinary, research-oriented, and practical discussions connecting psychology, language, communication, media, mental health and Indian Knowledge Systems.
The valedictory session included participant feedback, seminar proceedings and information regarding E-Certificates. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks.
