The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has intensified relief measures in Deendayal Nagar Basti after heavy rains caused water stagnation and affected several households.

HMWSSB Director (Operations) Narayana, along with senior officials, visited the affected areas and inspected waterlogged homes. The team interacted with residents to understand their concerns and reviewed the steps being taken to provide immediate relief.

Officials directed field teams to clear stagnant water, speed up sewer line maintenance and ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply. Chlorine tablets were distributed among residents as a precautionary measure to prevent waterborne diseases.

To avoid contamination, stored water in the supply network was flushed out through scour valves, following which safe drinking water supply was restored to the locality.

During the inspection, officials also identified a damaged manhole and immediately arranged barricading and warning signage to prevent accidents. Repair and reconstruction works have been taken up on a priority basis, HMWSSB said.
