To ensure smooth and safe Ganesh Chaturthi, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand chaired a key coordination meeting on Thursday at the TGICCC building. The session included officials from GHMC, Water Works, Electricity, RTC, Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police, Fire Services, Tourism, Medical, Transport, and other departments, along with representatives from the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti and Khairatabad Bada Ganesh Utsav Samiti.
The Samitis raised concerns regarding potholes, lighting, drinking water, tree obstructions, and transport for idols. GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan assured that 160 special teams are in place and baby ponds, cranes, barricades, and mobile facilities (toilets, water, ambulances, fire units) will be deployed. Metro services will run till midnight, and medical teams will be stationed at mandapams.
Joint CP Traffic Joel Davis said round-the-clock personnel will manage traffic. Surveillance will be handled via connected CCTV systems across all three commissionerates, said TGICCC Director V B Kamalasan Reddy.
Commissioner Anand urged mandapam organizers to follow court orders, submit idol details for better security, avoid DJ systems, and appoint volunteers to support police. He also requested RTC to provide extra drivers and mechanics on immersion day. With both Ganesh Chaturthi and Milad un Nabi falling together this year, CP emphasized inter-departmental coordination and public cooperation to ensure peaceful celebrations.
