Hyderabad She Teams register 14 FIRs in December

In December, Hyderabad SHE Teams, under the supervision of Dr. Lavanya NJP, DCP, Women Safety Wing, registered 14 FIRs while handling 98 complaints from women and girls across the city. Complaints were received through WhatsApp, direct petitions, and social media, with 29 referred to police stations for further investigation. Fifteen cases remain under legal review.

Through continuous field surveillance, decoy operations, and technical monitoring, SHE Teams caught 13 offenders red-handed, including 11 adults and 2 minors. Seven offenders were warned and counseled in the presence of their families, while nine cases were booked as petty offenses for serious misconduct. Legal action led to multiple convictions: three offenders received seven days’ imprisonment with a fine, one received four days’ jail and fine, one received two days’ jail, and three were fined only.

Notable cases include an engineering student harassed by a Rapido rider, a degree student threatened by her neighbor, a woman blackmailed by a man she knew on Instagram, and a complaint against K. Sumanth Sai Kumar for abusive messages on social media. All accused were apprehended, charged under Section 292 BNS and Section 70(c) of the CP Act, and sentenced by the Hon’ble X Special Judicial Magistrate, Nampally.

In addition to enforcement, SHE Teams conducted 188 awareness programs in schools, colleges, and public spaces, 1,045 observation drives in crowded and sensitive areas, and 234 AV vehicle awareness campaigns reaching thousands of citizens. Citizens are advised to beware of fake profiles, avoid oversharing personal information, secure accounts with strong passwords, and report harassment immediately.
