Vigilance raids in Karimnagar, Hyderabad net Rs 9.8 lakh penalties

Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) officials carried out surprise operations in Karimnagar and Hyderabad on the intervening night of January 6-7, 2026, seizing illegal goods and imposing penalties to safeguard public resources.

In Karimnagar, the V&E unit raided a defunct rice mill, Laxmi Narsimha Modern Rice Mill, located near Chittyala village in Nirmal Mandal. Acting on credible information, officials recovered 160 quintals of illegal PDS rice valued at Rs 4.80 lakh. The seized stock was handed over to Civil Supplies officials of Nirmal District for further legal action.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad City-1 unit, in coordination with MVIs, Royalty Inspectors of the Mines Department, and Commercial Tax officials, conducted night route checks from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. along the Outer Ring Road at Gandi Maisamma, Balanagar X Road, and surrounding areas. During the operation, 11 cases were booked under the Motor Vehicles Act for violations including overloading, license, tax, and permits, with vehicles seized and fines of around Rs 4.37 lakh imposed. Additionally, 5 cases under the Mining Act were registered for illegal sand transportation, with penalties of approximately Rs 63,705. The total fines collected amounted to around Rs 5,00,705. The V&E Department urged citizens to report irregularities or misuse of government resources through the toll-free number 14432.
