Tata Group-owned Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) has strengthened its international footprint with the opening of Taj Paro Resort & Spa in Bhutan, marking its entry into the Himalayan kingdom. The newly launched property features 45 rooms and adds a premium luxury offering to Bhutan’s growing tourism landscape.
IHCL said the development is an extension of its long-standing partnership with CG Hospitality, further deepening collaboration across key global markets. The IHCL–CG Hospitality alliance currently spans several marquee destinations in the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East, including luxury resorts in the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Nepal, and wildlife lodges under the Taj Safaris brand in India and Nepal.
Commenting on the launch, IHCL Managing Director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said the opening aligns with the company’s strategy of expanding its presence across the Indian subcontinent. He noted that the addition of Taj Paro Resort & Spa reinforces the more than two-decade partnership with CG Hospitality Global, part of CG Corp Global, which has an extensive hotel portfolio across the Middle East, the Greater Himalayan region, and the Indian Ocean region.
CG Hospitality Global Managing Director and CEO Rahul Chaudhary said the debut of the Taj brand in Paro would further elevate Bhutan’s profile as a high-end global tourism destination, backed by what he described as the world’s strongest hotel brand.
IHCL currently operates a portfolio of 392 hotels worldwide, including 143 properties under development. Its presence spans four continents, 14 countries, and over 150 locations globally.
