At 35, Jindal becomes the youngest president in CMA’s 60-year history
Parth Jindal, Managing Director of JSW Cement, has been elected as the new president of the Cement Manufacturers’ Association (CMA) at its annual general meeting, the industry lobby group announced on Thursday. Raghavpat Singhania, Managing Director of JK Cement, was chosen as the vice president. Jindal succeeds Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director of Shree Cement, as the head of the association. CMA represents nearly 70 percent of India’s installed cement capacity and unanimously endorsed the new leadership, expressing confidence in their vision for the sector.
At 35, Jindal becomes the youngest president in CMA’s 60-year history. The association highlighted that, for the first time, both the president and vice president come from the younger generation, bringing dynamic perspectives expected to strengthen CMA and advance its sustainability initiatives. As president, Jindal will focus on driving the association’s policy agenda with regulators, policymakers, and other stakeholders, emphasizing sustainable manufacturing, energy transition, logistics optimization, and expanding CMA membership.
Jindal emphasized the need for the cement industry to balance rapid infrastructure growth with environmental responsibilities. He aims to collaborate closely with central and state policymakers to ensure the Indian cement sector remains globally competitive while contributing to long-term development goals. Singhania added that CMA supports the government’s carbon neutrality target for 2070 and looks forward to advancing policy initiatives that promote growth and sustainability in the industry.
India, with an installed cement capacity of 700 million tonnes per year, is the world’s second-largest cement producer, and the new CMA leadership is expected to steer the sector toward innovation, sustainability, and continued contribution to national development.
