Warangal MP Dr. Kadiyam Kavya’s persistent efforts have led the Central Government to extend the Greater Warangal Smart City Project deadline to December 31, 2025.
This follows her appeal in Parliament in August, seeking more time to complete key development works in Warangal and Hanamkonda.
Earlier, Dr. Kavya and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had secured an extension until March 2025. Her continued push has now added nine more months, reflecting the Centre’s support.
The Smart City project includes nearly completed works like roads, drainage, public buildings, and Lake Beautification. Dr. Kavya, during talks with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, stressed the need for extra time to wrap up pending tasks.
Key unfinished works include beautification of Pedda Waddepally Lake, upgrades at Padmakshi Gutta and NGOs Colony in Hanamkonda, and drainage systems on Pothana Road and in Papayyapeta. Additional projects include greenery works worth Rs 12 crore, smart road developments, and the construction of arches.
Dr. Kavya has directed the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation and contractors to accelerate progress through regular reviews, ensuring timely completion.
This extension provides a crucial opportunity to transform Warangal and Hanamkonda into modern urban hubs under the Smart City vision.
